Credentials
I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and have provided therapy for more than 10 years. I
am a Board Certified Professional Counselor and have been awarded Diplomate standing by the American Psychotherapy Association. I am also a Diplomate of the
American Academy of Experts in Traumatic Stress and a Diplomate of the
National Center for Crisis Management.
My education has included
graduating Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and as a
Distinguished Student in Psychology. I have further earned both a
Masters of Arts in Counseling and a Masters of Arts in Clinical
Psychology.
In
order to be able to effectively address the complexity of symptoms
experienced by my clients, I continually pursue further development of
my clinical skills, most recently in the areas of Depression, Bipolar Disorder, and Anxiety Disorders (including Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Panic Disorder, and Phobias) through the Cognitive Therapy and Training Center in San Diego, UC Berkeley Extension Professional Programs, and David Burns, MD of Stanford University.
I am a
Certified Therapist and Approved Consultant with the EMDR International
Association, and I have completed advanced training in EMDR and related
physiologically-based intervention protocols for the treatment of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).
Further training has focused on the treatment of
conflictual relationships, domestic violence, sexual assault, and
self-injury. I have extensively studied the integration of
Christian beliefs with the work of counseling and am willing
to incorporate this approach at the request of the client.
I have also completed
a continuing education certificate in the treatment of Anorexia, Bulemia, Binge Eating,
and body image issues. I have had the incredible privilege of working with Team Mermaid, a women's triathlon association, in the development of a body image and self esteem curriculum for the Mini-Mermaids Girls Running Club.
