I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (CA License #LMFT41442) and have provided therapy since 2001.  I am Board Certified by and a Diplomate of the American Academy of Experts in Traumatic Stress, as well as a Diplomate of the National Center for Crisis Management.  I am a member of the International Society for the Study of Trauma and Dissociation.  I am a Board Certified Professional Counselor,  have been awarded Fellow standing by the American Psychotherapy Association, and am a member of the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists. Early in my career, I completed California State Certification as a Domestic Violence/Sexual Assault Advocate.

My education has included graduating Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and as a Distinguished Student in Psychology.  I have further earned both a Masters of Arts in Counseling and a Masters of Arts in Clinical Psychology. In order to be able to effectively address the complexity of symptoms experienced by my clients, I continually pursue further development of my clinical skills. 

Early in my career, I completed the 60-hour California State Certification as a Domestic Violence/Sexual Assault Advocate.  I have also completed the 70-hour Certificate Program in Traumatic Stress Studies through leading trauma expert Bessel van der Kolk. 

I was originally trained in EMDR Therapy in 2005.  I am a Certified Therapist with the EMDR International Association and have completed extensive advanced training in EMDR and related physiologically-based intervention protocols for the treatment of Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Complex/Developmental Trauma, Dissociative Disorders, and other mental health conditions. 

I am an EMDRIA Approved Consultant and have provided Consultation to mental health professionals (including Doctoral-level Psychologists, Licensed Clinical Social Workers, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists, and Licensed Professional Clinical Counselors) regarding certification in EMDR therapy, qualification as a Consultant, and the application of advanced EMDR therapy interventions for the treatment of Complex/Developmental Trauma and Dissociative Disorders. I am also an approved EMDRIA Credit Provider (#18001) for provision of continuing education to EMDR therapists.

I have substantial training in Cognitive-Behavioral treatments for trauma, anxiety, depression, and bipolar disorder, most significantly with David Burns' of Stanford UniversityI am a Certified Level 3 Advanced TEAM-CBT Therapist through the Feeling Good Institute, applying David Burns' cutting edge approaches to assessment and treatment.

I am a Certified HeartMath Practioner through the Institute of HeartMath.  HeartMath is a tool for affect regulation training, which has been shown through extensive research to improve anxiety, depression, sleep, focus, and other aspects of mental and physical health.

I have extensively studied the integration of Christian beliefs with the work of counseling and am willing to incorporate this approach at the request of the client.
